Latest Life Governor
The awarding of a Life Governor to a community member recognises a significant service to East Grampians Health Service.
In November 2011, Mr Terry Weeks was appointed a Life Governor.
Mr Weeks is the inaugural Chair of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation : Ararat Branch and has been in that position for over 10 years. During his time as President, the Ararat Branch has raised in excess of $600,000 towards the purchase of equipment for the Health Service which has included:
$63,000 John McNally Emergency Department
$150,000 John McNally Helipad
$286,000 Radiology equipment
$45,000 Theatre equipment
The Foundation's current project is to raise $150,000 for a new C.T. machine for the John McNally Radiology Department.
Mr Weeks strong leadership of the Foundation has not only assisted the Health Service in obtaining state of the art equipment which benefits our community, but also in perpetuating the memory of members of Victoria Police who have been killed in the line of duty.
His support of East Grampians Health Service is also demonstrated in his role with Red Cross when he assists when emergencies occur and the Health Service is used as an emergency relief centre.
Mr Weeks strong commitment to community service is evidenced by being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2009.
