Matthew Wood appointed to Health Service Board

Senior Sergeant of Ararat Police station Matthew Wood joins the East Grampians Health Service Board. Mr Wood brings a wealth of experience to the EGHS Board having served as a policeman for over 32 years. Mr Wood is currently the treasurer for the Grampians YMCA, a member of the Marian College Stewardship Council and a member of the Ararat Prison Redevelopment Community Advisory Group.

Matthew Wood came to Ararat in 2005 when he was appointed as the Officer In Charge of the Ararat Police Station. Matthew has served in a variety of locations and roles around metropolitan and country Victoria. Matthew holds a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management, an advanced Diploma in Public Safety (Emergency Management) and a Diploma in Police Management.

Matthew has been active in sport all his life, playing squash, running and is a central umpire for the Mininera Football League. Matthew is married to Donna, and their three children have all attended school in Ararat.  Matthew describes Ararat to be a fantastic place to live with a strong, caring and friendly community.

Matthew said "I have for the past 5 years had a professional relationship with East Grampians Health Service and I am very impressed with the way it's run. I know I have some time I can give to the EGHS Board and I believe I can bring new skills to the board. I have experience with governance on other Boards in the community and I have a real desire to give back to the community that I have served in my professional capacity and now I have a desire to give back in a private capacity."
