Training Kicks off again for the Murray to Moyne bike ride

East Grampians Health Service has once again entered two teams into this year's Murray to Moyne relay bike ride. The two teams which have been given the title of "Cranks and Defibrillators " The teams are in full training which will see the riders cover a distance of over 525 kms in two days from the Murray River at Swan Hill to the Moyne River at Port Fairy.
Murray to Moyne Organiser, Trish Connarty said" We have a strong team for this year's event and everyone is geared up and ready to raise vital money for the Health Services of Ararat. The teams are very committed and are looking forward to the big ride on the 1st and 2nd of April.
Mr. Nick Bush East Grampians Health Service Chief Executive commented that "this is an important event for East Grampians Health Service and we appreciate the bike riders, support crew and their families for giving up so much personal time to make this event a success. This sort of commitment from the community and businesses of Ararat and District, highlights the enthusiasm that the community has to get behind the health service
Community Liaison Officer of East Grampians Health Service said "This year's event is raising essential funds for a new bladder scanner for the Inpatient Unit and a new Lifting machine for the residents of the Aged Care facility in Lowe Street." Mr. Drake also highlighted it's important to keep an eye out for the riders, as they are now looking for sponsorship. The East Grampians Health Service Bike riders have raised money for such things as an ECG Exercise Machine for Inpatient Unit, Resuscitaire infant warmer for Midwifery Department, Audiometer for Speech Pathology and they also funded towards a X-ray machine which has greatly contributed to providing a better equipped hospital for the community of Ararat and District.
The next fundraising night is a trivia night at the VRI Bowls club on Friday 11th March at 7.00pm. Tickets are $10.00 a head, drinks available at bar prices and supper will be supplied also. The Big Prize of a weekend for two at the St Kilda Parkview Hotel with Full buffet breakfast which will be drawn on the night together with many other great prizes.
