Grampians Bushfires – A Massive Effort

The huge Grampians bushfires, just few weeks after the Stawell bushfires gave little time to be prepared yet again for the big task ahead.

Emergency meal production at EGHS is quickly running at full capacity with more than 3000 meals being prepared on a daily basis and then being transported to Stawell, Willaura and Moyston staging areas twice daily and served by Red Cross volunteers.

Chief Executive, John Davies said: “EGHS received countless offers of assistance from many groups and individuals. Red Cross have been magnificent, working closely with the health service and suppliers were wonderful in their support. Without them, we could not have provided the additional meals and importantly, maintained our normal service.” Mr Davies also praised all EGHS staff for their extraordinary efforts during the crisis.

During this emergency, the Patricia Hinchey Day Centre is permanently opened as the areas designated Emergency Relief Centre.
