16th November, 2010
Students from Marian College visited the clients of East Grampians Health Service Patricia Hinchey Day Centre and gave a helping hand with their new Wii game. Patricia Hinchey Day Centre Clients and students were playing games such as Ten Pin Bowling on the new Wii game, everyone had lots of fun and the students enjoyed being the teachers for once.
Patricia Hinchey Day Centre Co-Coordinator Jacinta Harman said" It's was great to see the students come out and help show how to use the latest games on the Wii. Part of the Marian College community Program is that the students need to go out in the community and help out." Mrs Harman exclaimed "we were so lucky they picked the Day Centre for their project."
The Wii2 Game console was bought by the funds raised by EGHS Social Dance Group. The T.V screen was recently donated by the Patricia Hinchey Day Centre Auxiliary, who work feverishly all year round raising money for the Centre.
EGHS Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nick Bush commented that it was important for links in the community such as this initiative from Marian College to help build community spirit between the hospital and the community, including students of Ararat. Mr Bush said "it's great to see the students take on such projects as this one at the Day Centre.
