WWW Dinner judged the best ever

16th September, 2009

First class comedian and one of the country's funniest, Denise Scott certainly created lots of laughter for the full house of 300 women from right across the region who attended this years most successful WWW. Women, Wisdom & wellbeing Dinner at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre last Friday night (11/9/09).

Denise who has been treading the boards for longer than she cares to remember, is one of the country's strongest live comic performers and she certainly had everyone laughing with her blend of personal stories and topical observations.

Organised through the EGHS Auxiliary, this was eighth year the fundraising Dinner has been held and the event has certain not lost its appeal.

An outstanding meal was presented by Executive Chef Sarah O'Keefe and Associate Chefs Will Bell and Michael Kelly together with the EGHS Catering Team, and all wines on the night were provided by Seppelt Great Western, a major supporter to East Grampians Health Service. Also helping out in a big way were a great band of male volunteer waiters, led by ‘front of house' Phil Ralph and Bronwyn Klemm.

To match the theme of ‘Put a little colour into your life' the hall was a mass of colourful banners and table decorations, and guests added their touch with colourful outfits and attire. The winner on the night of the colourful outfit sponsored by Pegis Fashions was Kate Arbon-Ellis and the winner of the hair and accessories sponsored by Blue Cameo Mobile Hairdressing was Julie Frawley.

Again a special highlight of the evening was the attendance of 25 students from Ararat, Marian, Beaufort and Lake Bolac Secondary Colleges who were all sponsored by local businesses, organisations and government agencies.  The 4th Annual Careers Encouragement Award was won by Natasha Broidy from Beaufort Secondary College. Other students attending included Sarah Marland, Tess Blackie, Disa Vong, Kelsey Hosking, Jess Ried, Chloe Madex, Caitlin Treacy, Bethany Sherwell,  Emily Vearing, Madeline Tapscott, Abbey Main, Marnie Harris, Morgan Phillips, Rachel White, Jacqui Wood, Samantha Clark, Ellie Metcalfe, Melinda Holtkamp, Amy Morcombe, Laura Broidy, Georgina Ware, Jessica Thewlis, Hannah McIntyre, Tyler Fischer and Jess Mulcahy.

EGHS Auxiliary President and MC for the Dinner Liz de Fegely said: "This has been a wonderful community event for the health service. The WWW. Women, Wisdom & Wellbeing Dinner is the Auxiliaries major fundraiser and for it to be such a success we are so grateful for the support of all the members, our men supporters who did all the waiting on the tables, community volunteers, East Grampians Health Service and the Ararat Performing Arts Centre staff who helped put this successful night together again this year.

We appreciate the major sponsors including the Ararat Medical Centre, the Ararat Performing Arts Centre, Arts Victoria and the ‘Brekkie on the Run' Leadership Program which supports the leadership and networking of women in the community. We say ‘thank you' to one and all."

It is expected that this event will raise up to $10,000 which will go towards a new Cardiac Monitor for the Inpatient Unit at the health service.
