EGHS achieves good results as part of Patient Satisfaction Monitor Report
2nd May, 2008
The release of the 2007 Victoria Patient Satisfaction Monitor Report has returned a strong result for East Grampians Health Service with an excellent 39% response rate that has provided confidence in the reported data.
The Victorian Patient Satisfaction Monitor Report is made available by the Department of Human Services and surveys discharged patients from public hospitals to gauge their satisfaction with their Inpatient Admissions. The information, which was surveyed over a six month period, is used to determine areas of improvement and to report areas of successfully treatment care and provision of information. All information is compared and can be benchmarked against similar hospitals.
East Grampians Health Service is a Category C hospital and within this category fifteen similar hospitals were surveyed. Areas measured included; access and admission, general patient information, treatment and related information, complaints management, physical environment, discharge and follow up and consumer participation.
Recently appointed Quality and Risk Manager for East Grampians Health Service, Mario Santilli in commenting on the report outcomes said: "In a number of areas East Grampians Health Service was above both the peer and state-wide averages. It is heartening also that there was an increased response from previous surveys. While this result is encouraging, improvement is always possible. A brief summary of Wave 13 Results has been displayed throughout the Acute Hospital areas of the health service for staff, patients and visitors to read. Already the 2008 survey is about to get underway and it is worth noting that this is the thirteenth occasion that East Grampians Health Service has been involved in the data accessing and final report process.'
Mario is married with three children and lives in Ballarat, and previous to his appointment was on a twelve months secondment to the Department of Human Services Mental Health Branch in Melbourne as a Quality Manager. Prior to that, he was involved in the pilot for the first ever Mental Health Service Accreditation.
In his new role at East Grampians Health Service Mario will be involved in Quality, Risk and Occupational Health and Safety and is pleased to see that systems and processes are in place which are required for quality assurance, risk management and patient safety. Also the Victorian Patient Satisfaction Monitor results are reassuring to see how well the health service has performed against its peers and the state.
East Grampians Health Service encourages community feedback at anytime, and the ‘Compliments and Concerns' process can be accessed for this purpose.
