Captivated Audience at Moyston Winter Luncheon

29th June, 2010

A great turnout with over 80 women coming together to celebrate the 4th Annual Winters Women Luncheon held at the Moyston Football Clubrooms yesterday (Thursday 17th June 2010) to support the EGHS Auxiliaries Winter Luncheon.

The luncheon, which raised over $2,000, was organized by the EGHS Auxiliary to raise funds towards the purchase a new well needed bladder scanner for the District Nursing Unit at East Grampians Health Service.

Lee Brasser who was kind enough to donate her time made some beautiful floral displays from beginner's level to quite an advanced level. Lee made the floral designs very easy to understand and how with a few simple ideas and flowers, the average person could do at home. The audience was absolutely captivated by the incredible artistic ability of Lee and made for an illuminating afternoon.

Lee is available to do seven week courses from basic to advanced, for more information please phone 5352 1144.

EGHS Auxiliary President Liz de Fegely said: "We try to pick a different location each year so that all the women in the region have the opportunity to come along". The New Moyston Football Clubrooms proved an excellent venue for this function. The newly renovated clubrooms have excellent facilities and equipment. We are grateful for their support, and also thank our supporters who attend all our fundraising events.

The new bladder scanner is a well needed piece of equipment for the hospital. It will aid the clinical staff to access the bladder for urinary retention, so patients who have urinary problems don't need a catheter inserted. Now this procedure can be simply done by ultra sound waves instead. This will avoid such problems as infection, pain, discomfort and make the whole experience much less stressful for everyone concerned.

The next major function for the EGHS Auxiliary will be the WWW. Women, Wisdom & Wellbeing Dinner, which will be held at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre on Friday, 10th September 2010 - watch this space
