Aged care
Aged Care
Aged Care Services offer quality care with positive outcomes for clients, residents and their families. Health and personal care, and resident lifestyle are key standards under which care and programs are delivered across all EGHS Aged Care Services of John Pickford House, Willaura Hospital, Parkland House and Garden View Court hostels, and Willaura and Patricia Hinchey Day Centres.
At EGHS, our focus is on the individual resident or client, with strategies implemented to identify individual likes, dislikes and interests in all areas across the social and clinical spectrums.
The aged care leisure and lifestyle programs make an important contribution to residents’ self-esteem and independence, whilst nutrition and exercise programs impact positively on physical well-being and clinical care needs.
Continuous improvement in aged care is central to what we do. It is a way of life in where residents/clients, relatives and staff input is vital. The outcomes of our activities and care offered are measured by resident/client and relative satisfaction surveys, audits, and observation of our environments.
70 Lowe Street
70 Lowe Street is a new 45 bed High Care Aged Care facility opened in May 2007 at a cost of $7,690,000. The site was developed in a manner which allows for future service needs to be achieved. Its design promotes easy access for all residents, and lifts the spirits of those who work, live and visit the facility. This flexible building maximises natural light and ventilation and includes a fully landscaped surround to provide a positive therapeutic effect. With flexible areas and a passive solar design, the facility is a pleasurable place for our residents to reside.
An increase in volunteers has improved interaction with the wider community for our residents and involvement with fund raising has enabled items to be purchased for the facility.
Three new additions to Lowe Street are the Chapel which is used by all denominations on a bi-monthly basis. This also allows for quiet time for family or residents reflection. A seasons room over looking the Langi Gharin mountain allows for residents and families to get together to admire the scenery, as well as a room which sees afternoon tea served by two volunteers on a Monday afternoon for 3-4 residents on a rotation basis.

The Hostel Complex consists of 24 individual units which are constructed around a central landscaped courtyard.
The objective of the Hostel is to provide an alternative home for elderly persons who may require assistance in some areas of day to day living to enable them to continue to live with dignity.Residents are able to enjoy the company of other residents in the hostel’s communal areas and still have the privacy of their own unit when they wish.
