Staff
Staff have again responded magnificently to the many challenges of the past year. At both Willaura and Ararat we have maintained full Accreditation from Australian Council on Health Care Standards and Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency.
Our financial position has improved dramatically due to the positive response from staff in controlling costs and increasing revenue. Innovation and involvement continues to flourish in a variety of ways. A new waste recycling program, an inaugural ANZAC Day luncheon at Garden View Court Hostel, establishment of a Health Service 'Influenza Pandemic Task Force' and involvement in award-winning Sustainable Farm Families Program are examples of the diversity of new initiatives undertaken by staff over the past twelve months.
Internal and external surveys provide clear evidence of the overall high standard of care and service provided to our patients and residents. To our staff, along with volunteers and our partners involved in delivery of care, development of our buildings and infrastructure, we thank you for your energy and enthusiasm.
The commitment of the medical practitioners and staff at Ararat Medical Centre and Visiting Medical Specialists has also been outstanding. We are indeed fortunate within Ararat and District to enjoy the quality and range of current medical and surgical services.
We also acknowledge the work of local Parliamentarians, Federal Minister for Wannon & Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon David Hawker and State Member for Ripon, Mr Joe Helper who willingly continue their support of EGHS. Officers from the Department of Human Services (D.H.S.) and Department of Health & Aging continue to be very positive in their discussions with EGHS. In particular, the support received from Mr Vic Gordon, Regional Director DHS Grampians Region and his staff has been outstanding. The working relationship between DHS Rural and Regional and Capital Management Directorates has also been similarly positive and beneficial.
Similarly the assistance of the media, particularly the Ararat Advertsier, 3WM MIXX FM and The Weekly Advertiser and ABC Regional Radio continues to be appreciated.
We look forward to the future with confidence, and in the coming year, we will again be seeking your ongoing commitment and contribution. With your support, we will undoubtedly advance our vision, East Grampians Health Service 'the Health Service of choice'
